The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Research Institute is embarking on an exciting new project titled “QR Based Digital Geotagging of Peepal and Banyan Trees in Jammu & Kashmir,” and they are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join their team. This project aims to survey and digitally tag these iconic trees in the Jammu province of the union territory, and they are calling for interested candidates to participate in a walk-in test (written test) for the position of Junior Research Fellow.
The responsibilities of the selected candidates will include assisting in the survey of Peepal and Banyan trees, collecting data according to a standard format, converting the collected data into QR codes, and contributing to the compilation of the project report and district-wise heritage registers. They will also have the opportunity to work in all districts of the Jammu region, making this a unique and diverse opportunity.
In terms of eligibility, candidates with experience in site visits, using GPS, and carrying out surveys and data collection will be given preference. Knowledge or qualifications in computers and GIS will also be advantageous. The selection process will involve the submission of applications as per the prescribed format, followed by a written examination on December 19th, 2023. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo a viva voice on December 21st, 2023. It’s important to note that no TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in test and interview.
Interested candidates must submit their applications to the office of DFO Research Forest Division Jammu, J&K FRI Complex Janipur by December 16th, 2023, and report for the written test at 10:00 AM on December 19th, 2023, at the JKFRI Complex in Janipur, Jammu. All original documents and certificates must be produced for verification at the time of selection.
