Luke Getsy to take offensive coordinator job with Las Vegas Raiders

Former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has recently been signed by the Las Vegas Raiders to take on the same role. With a focus on the run game, Getsy’s Bears led the NFL in rushing offense in 2022 and ranked 2nd in the past season. A former WPIAL standout turned NFL coach, Getsy has worked his way up the coaching ranks over the past 15 years.

After graduating from Steel Valley High School, Getsy attended the University of Pittsburgh before transferring to Akron. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Akron, eventually gaining experience as an offensive coordinator at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Getsy went on to work in various college football roles at Pitt, IUP, and Western Michigan before making his jump to the NFL in 2014, joining Mike McCarthy’s staff in Green Bay as an offensive quality control coach.

In 2019, Getsy returned to the Packers as quarterbacks coach before becoming the Bears’ offensive coordinator in 2022. Prior to his tenure with the Bears, he had taken on the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach jobs at Mississippi State. Despite being fired earlier this year, Getsy’s reputation as a run-heavy coordinator has earned him a new role with the Raiders.

This move marks another chapter in Getsy’s impressive coaching career, demonstrating his ability to adapt and succeed at both the college and professional levels. With his strong focus on the run game, his new role with the Las Vegas Raiders is sure to bring an exciting dimension to the team’s offense.

The addition of Getsy to the Raiders coaching staff reflects the team’s commitment to strengthening their offensive capabilities. As they head into the upcoming season, all eyes will be on how Getsy’s expertise will further elevate the Raiders’ performance on the field.
