The University of Colorado Boulder has become the first four-year university in Colorado to offer a program that provides students, recent graduates, and staff with free professional job training from Google. The program, known as Google Career Certificates, aims to equip CU Buffs with in-demand skills and credentials for the digital economy. The partnership, which was launched on Monday, is the first of its kind in the state and allows students to add a quality, industry-recognized credential to their collegiate experience, potentially enhancing their marketability in the workforce.
The program is particularly targeted towards CU Boulder juniors and seniors who are preparing to enter the workforce. In addition, the program includes an employer consortium of more than 150 companies, including Deloitte, Ford, Verizon, Walmart, and Google, to connect certificate graduates to job opportunities.
Offering access to six Google Career Certificates in fields such as data analytics, project management, IT support, and UX design, the program is designed and taught by Google employees. These certificates are stackable credentials and can be accumulated over time to demonstrate an individual’s expanded competencies.
