Enforcement Directorate Raids Nine Locations in Kolkata in Connection with Teachers’ Recruitment Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at nine locations in Kolkata on Thursday in connection with the teachers’ recruitment scam case. The central probe agency searched the residences and offices of several individuals, including chartered accountants, businessmen, and others associated with the scam.

Among the locations being investigated are two flats belonging to businessman Subodh Sachar and Ashoke Yaduka in Maniktala, as well as the residence of a charter accountant in the Burrabazar area. Nine teams of ED officers conducted raids at offices and residences of different people located in the city’s busy Burrabazar area, Kakurgachi, and EM Bypass.

“This is related to our investigation of the primary school jobs scam. These people were involved in routing the money. We are looking for documents and other bank documents,” an officer told PTI.

The search operations started early Thursday morning following a tip-off from a person who was arrested in connection with the ED’s probe into the cow smuggling scam.

The teachers’ recruitment scam has been a matter of concern in West Bengal, with allegations of corruption and irregularities in the recruitment process. This case has sparked public outrage and demands for justice.

The raids conducted by the ED signal a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the scam. The agency’s actions demonstrate a commitment to rooting out corruption and bringing those involved to justice.
