As winter begins to wane and thoughts turn to spring, the Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club is gearing up for the upcoming season by expanding its workforce. Mike Abramson, General Manager of the Yard Goats, announced that they are looking to hire over a hundred people for various positions within the organization.
Even amidst the snow-covered Dunkin Park, several eager individuals showed up on Saturday to apply for the available positions. This hiring event marks the exciting start of the season for the Yard Goats, according to Abramson.
The job fairs hosted by the Yard Goats aim to fill a wide range of roles, including ushers, concessions, kitchen and box office staff, grounds crew, and catering personnel. Abramson emphasized the importance of these positions in creating an enjoyable experience for the fans, from greeting them at the park to serving their food.
Among the applicants were Hartford natives William Pitts Senior and Marta Ramos. Pitts expressed his willingness to take on any available role while Ramos, with prior experience at the XL Center, hopes to continue working closely with people.
Another candidate, Brian Bongiovanni of Manchester, aspires to transition from being a spectator to an employee at the games. Despite facing challenges due to his disability, Bongiovanni is determined to contribute to the team, specifically expressing interest in roles related to security and ticket-taking.
Also present at the event was Chris Bachand, Director of Create Independence, a program supporting individuals with disabilities. Bachand highlighted their efforts in helping individuals like Bongiovanni find meaningful employment. He expressed his pride in the potential success of candidates like Bongiovanni.
The Hartford Yard Goats, a Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, have become an integral part of the city’s sports scene since their relocation from New Britain in 2016. With a loyal fan base and a commitment to providing a top-notch spectator experience, the Yard Goats are a significant contributor to the local community.
The hiring event not only reflects the team’s commitment to providing memorable experiences for their fans but also underscores their dedication to creating diverse and inclusive employment opportunities. As they prepare for the upcoming season, the Yard Goats are not only building a team on the field but also off the field, welcoming individuals from all walks of life to join their ranks.
