Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan has dismissed rumors linking him to the vacant men’s basketball coaching position at the University of Kentucky. In a statement before the team’s game against the New York Knicks, Donovan reaffirmed his commitment to the Bulls, stating, “My total focus is here with this team.”
Following John Calipari’s departure after 15 seasons as coach, Donovan’s name has been floating as a potential candidate for the Wildcats. With roots at Kentucky, where he was an assistant coach under Rick Pitino, Donovan went on to achieve great success in college basketball, winning back-to-back national championships at Florida.
While acknowledging his fond memories of Kentucky, Donovan emphasized his contentment coaching in the NBA. He started his professional coaching career with the Oklahoma City Thunder before joining the Bulls in 2020.
