Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, recently admitted that he contemplates leaving his demanding role on a daily basis, but remains committed to serving until the next election in October 2025. Despite facing dwindling support according to recent surveys, Trudeau expressed his determination to continue leading the country. He emphasized the personal sacrifices involved in his position, stating, “I could not be the man I am and abandon the fight at this point.”
During an interview with French-language broadcaster Radio-Canada, Trudeau acknowledged the challenges of his job, describing it as “super tough” and noting that democracies worldwide are under threat. The Prime Minister addressed pressing issues in Canada such as the housing crisis and rising crime rates, with the Conservatives vowing to address the government’s budget deficit.
Trudeau has faced criticism over the government’s carbon tax policy, which is set to increase on April 1. Despite calls to freeze the hike from some provincial premiers, Trudeau reiterated his commitment to the policy. He reaffirmed his dedication to public service, stating, “I entered politics not to be popular, but because I want to serve and I know I have something to offer.”
In addition to his political challenges, Trudeau has also experienced personal setbacks, including his separation from his wife Sophie in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The couple, who share three children, announced their split after tying the knot in 2005.
