The Katsina chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is calling for the recruitment of Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) teachers to instil moral values in pupils in the state. Dr Musa Daniel-Danladi, the secretary of the association, emphasized the importance of this call to enhance teaching and promote sound morals in public schools, particularly in the southern part of the state where there is a significant population of indigenous Christians.
Dr. Daniel-Danladi also urged Governor Dikko Radda to appoint an indigenous Christian as a special assistant on Christian affairs in the state, citing this as a practice of the previous All Progressive Congress (APC) administration.
In addition, the CAN secretary praised the state government’s efforts to protect Christians during the Christmas celebrations. He also commended Governor Radda for his successful initiatives in curbing insecurity, stating that no Christians are currently in the hands of kidnappers and that there has been over a month without any reported attacks.
Furthermore, Dr. Daniel-Danladi encouraged Christians to pray for peace, unity and progress in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
It is worth noting that the issue of the recruitment of CRK teachers and the appointment of a special assistant on Christian affairs has been a point of contention in Katsina, as there have been concerns about the lack of representation and education for the Christian population in the state. This call from the CAN chapter highlights the ongoing efforts to address these concerns and promote inclusivity and diversity within the educational and governmental systems.
The CAN’s plea for the recruitment of CRK teachers and the appointment of a special assistant on Christian affairs reflects the organization’s commitment to advocating for the rights and representation of Christians in Katsina. As the state continues to address these issues, it is important for all parties involved to work towards ensuring fair and equal treatment for all citizens.
